This does exactly what I'd hoped it would do! I ran this swank beauty right through 1 1/2" thick XPS foam like it was butter. It was extremely fast and efficient. The cut was smooth with no ridges or pocks. The included brush cleaned the blade off easily.So far so good. I was looking for a tool to help me cut strings for french horns without having to heat a knife via. a torch. This thing can turn red hot on high and has an adjustable temperature setting on top. As I get a chance to use it for extended periods of time I will update the review. I will also post a video and/or pictures. Fast shipping and seems very well built. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right tool for what I needed, and this fits the bill perfectly. Durability will be put to the test and I will report further. So far, I am VERY pleased.Update 07/13/2016:Used this for an hour non stop cutting strings. Blade needs cleaned but unit is working great! This is probably the hardest any electric knife could be used for continues use and it is doing great. Will keep updating.I've used this product to prevent the ends of ribbons from un-raveling on wreaths. You have to get the right angle, and just the right amount of heat for it to work well. Lots of fumes from application of too much heat for too long. I end up using the cleaning brush after every 3 to 5 applications of heat to ribbon, so that the ends of the ribbons don't end up black.I use this hot knife for cutting SunBrella fabric for boat enclosures. Quick heat up, nice hook on end the hang it and a great shaped blade. Only reason for 4 stars is (guess I have a short memory) the temp adjustment dial doesn't indicate which way is hotter and cooler. I don't use this every day...so I check the manual. Eventually, I'll remember...I think. I still recommend this highly.Terrible. I bought this a while ago. Finally used it and it quit working first time. Handle got extremely hot and it quit working. Do not recommend this at all!!Update - Company contacted me about the problem that I had with this tool. They actually sent me a new tool to replace the first one. The Hot Knife works fine. Great Company..I would recommend the following tool: I was able to accomplish my project with ease. Yet, it did take a couple of weeks to receive the device.This is an amazing gadget! I use it to heat seal ribbon for my etsy shop. It is quick and easy to use. There is a bit of a learning curve...I've found that you want to cut with the part closest to the botton, not the top. Otherwise, your ribbon will move and the cut will be less accurate. My husband bought me a piece of glass to cut on. Works perfectly!The first one I got didn’t work. Amazon sent me another oneWe bought this to use for various task on our boat, from cutting out Sunbrella to sealing rope ends. It has performed very well. I would suggest getting an extra tip when buying but we have the original 1 year later, it has held up well.This foam cutter seems to be well made and comes with lots of accessories and in a case. It does take some time to warm/heat up so you need to be patient with it.. this is a 200W model..Works good , slow and steady works beat
