I love this knife. KA-BAR is a great company and they really produced a great knife here. This is a very practical utility tool. It’s very much like the 1219C2 fighting/utility knife. I like the fact that the cross guard is shortened on top so you can get your thumb out on the spine of the blade for fine control. It’s A Ka Bar Knife! That Says It All. Top Of TheLine Knife Especially For Navy Man.This is much smaller than the traditional K-Bar 7” vs 5” blade and the handle is a good inch shorter. Fits easily in a bag with the sheath. I can completely see how the Navy picked this as a utility knife in the day.Solid, tough construction with a full tang and the same thickness blade and the full size model. Leather handle is beautiful. I treated it and the sheath w Sno Seal. Maintain both and they will last for generations. I don’t get critics of the sheath. Nicest one I’ve ever owned. Much nicer than my uncle’s WW2 model. It will handle rain and wet as the design has done for decades. It’s not a dive knife. I may break down and get a Kraton handle version for canoe camping.Mine was not very sharp, sort of rough. Not a big I’ll fix that. Glad K-Bar makes this model still. This is a better tool than the big model as it attracts less attention. Fixed blades are fairly polarizing. It’s not a massive survival knife. It’s an awesome tool for camping, outdoor activities, and emergency use. It’s a reasonable tool you can carry in a bag / vehicle every day.Love it.Such a well made knife. feels great to hold, perfect balance, built like a tank. Nice job, Ka-Bar!. I just rec'd this yesterday. Sharpest knife I have ever seen. it's scary sharp. Wow. I forgot to mention the sheath is perfect too, will last a long time. This is a classic hunting/woodcraft/utility knife. It's lines were inspired by the various hunting knives of the first half of the 20th century. The leather handle is very comfortable. I wish it was a bit longer, but despite that, I really don't have any trouble using it. The flat grind makes it particularly useful for slicing. I've read where people think the tip is too delicate, or the hidden tang is weak. Neither is true, but if you're worried about it, buy one of the many sharpened prybars on the market.I don't care for painted knives, so I stripped the coating off. I then sharpened the spine. It now is a sweet camping and woodcraft knife. The 1095 CroVan steel takes a fine edge, and keeps it for a respectable amount of time. It's a cinch to touch up in the field. The sheath is decent, but I'll probably replace it with a deep pouch type. It's a classic knife, for a very reasonable price.Great knife & fast deliverySupposed to arrive May 18-20, arrived May 15th well ahead of schedule. Razor sharp, excellent condition. I see one person reviewed this knife and said there was a quality control issue and a small piece of the handle was chipped, missing paint. This is NOT the case, it is a full tang knife, that's the pin holding the handle together SMH. as an old sailor I always wanted the U.S. Navy version of the KA-BAR, now I do. Very happy with this purchase. Also a much better price then you would get from the KA-BAR website lol. This knife has all the things I look for in a woods knife: blade about 5", blade shape that is versitile for multiple different camp tasks, made of tough steel with reasonable edge retention (that can easily be maintained in the field), comfortable handle that allows various grips, decent fit and finish. The leather sheath is okay, does the job.My primary camp knives need to be good at slicing and carving. I use different tools for chopping and hacking; if you want a knife that is good at those things, there are better options out there. My gloves size is just between medium and large. If you have large/extra large hands, this handle might be to small for comfort. For me, the size is perfect and the sweet fits really nicely in my palm.Very good purchase for the price.Update: was recently carving on a piece of work and noticed there was an irritating burr in the top plastic washer that sits between the guard and the leather stack. Was able to easily remove it with an emery board.A great knife. Leather handles will last forever. Good quality steel. If you’re looking for a hardy knife to use for Bushcraft or skinning. Very traditional style with leather handles and sheath.Es muy buen cuchillo. Es un clásico de Kabar. Tiene un gran filo. Y es muy ligero, tiene diferencias y similitudes con el Mark II . El cual también es un gran cuchillo.Excellent all around camp knife.Very sharpSexy knife. Sharp as a razor. Holds it's edge well. Strong. Well worth the money.
