Product Description

The Messermeister Meridian Elité knife collection defines tradition with a triple rivet, full-exposed tang handle. These knives are one-piece, hot-drop hammer forged from a single billet of the finest German stainless steel alloy and fitted with the most durable industrial strength, ergonomic handle in the world. Meridian Elité knives are handcrafted and polished one at a time using the same techniques that have been the hallmark of fine Solingen-made cutlery that have stood the test of time. Meridian Elité knives are the authentically superior, forged and triple-riveted knives manufactured in Solingen, Germany. When you are in need of a knife to slice tomatoes, soft skinned fruits & vegetables, cheeses, salami’s or charcuterie, the Messermeister Meridian Elité 5” Scalloped Slicing Knife is the knife of choice. The compact blade makes it easy to slice through baguettes. This multi-functional forged knife features our Elité edge. Use the pronged tip to serve individual cut pieces and to move from cutting board to serving plate.

Product Features

The German 1.4116 high-carbon, stainless alloy blade resists stains and corrosion, exhibits toughness and durability, holds its edge retention, and is easy to re-sharpen to a razor-like edge.

This knife line is one-piece, hot-drop hammer forged, which produces the strongest blade from heel to tip. The blades are heat treated and cooled to achieve a Rockwell of 57-58.

The three-step, 15 degree “Elite” edge is hand stropped on a cloth wheel, creating the sharpest possible cutting surface on an edged tool.

The bolsterless heel simplifies all cutting, sharpening & honing tasks, making use of the entire blade from heel to tip.

Handcrafted in the historic cutlery capital of Solingen, Germany.

The Knife for Life guarantee provides a lifetime warranty against material and manufacturing defects.

I purchased this to replace a Henkel International scalloped utility knife that after 20 or so years the handle cracked (had been for a while) and missing pieces. I have to say there is a difference although the Henkel could have been worn or originally not as sharp as this is. I had stopped using the Henkel because it was missing those pieces and didn't cut well. I was looking for a knife to cut grape tomatoes and smaller fruit and veggies - this size fits the bill for me.It feels good in my hand, nicely finished, it is pretty well balanced and it seems very sharp. I have cut a corn muffin that would typically crumble and it didn't using this and it sliced through an apple pretty well.I want to mention that all the cutting scallops are on the bottom of this knife, the Henkel had scallops going to it's point - not a problem but I didn't notice that originally from the photo. Based on my experiences so far I think it is an excellent knife. If it holds it's edge and the handle doesn't break (we do throw them into the dishwasher) in a short time - all will be good.12/21/15 Edit - I want to say this is razor sharp - I barely grazed my thumb with the scalloped part and it took a piece off. I never had a knife this sharp before! Can you be in love with a knife? Does that make me creepy? I absolutely love this knife. As soon as I got it I baked some bread and boy did it slice it smooth butter!!I've had this knife for several months and it is just as beautifully smooth as it was the day I got it, I love it!!!!I bake bread and it is important to have a great knife that will cut through the crust without smashing the bread. This knife cuts like butter.Very durable I work in a kitchen and my bread knife is hands down the best one although I am left handed and I had to settle for this one cause the lefty was 30$ more expensiveIt's a good knife, cuts bread just like any other bread knife. I like slight curve of the blade. The handle is small, less comfortable than average.I would rate it 4 stars, one star knocked for its price. You can get a better overall bread knife for half the price.Great last knife to add to my knife block. Have been filling in empty slots in block for a few years. Great item for Christmas gifting to my husband the foodie.Super-sharp; amazing for all small jobs. I also love Messermeister knives because they have small handles (compared to Wustof, etc.) which work well for my small hands!I had a hard time bringing myself to fork out $80 for a bread knife, but I'm glad I did. This is a superbly crafted knife, and very useful. It does a great job biting into crusty loaves of bread, and it's so amazingly sharp you can cut tomatoes without any sign of tearing. It fits my (largish) hand perfectly, and the slight upward curve of the blade really helps when you've cut almost through the loaf: it keeps you from needing to bang your knuckles on the cutting board trying to get that last little bit of crust on the bottom. I love it!Very high quality, feels good in hand, came razor sharp out of the box - excellent serrated knife. Great addition to my chopping block. This is easily the best bread knife I've owned. I'm delighted with the Messermeister Meridian Elite line of knives.Belle qualité. Belle finition de lame et manche. Déjà testé sur tomate et bagel, tranchant impécable. Peux servir de mini couteau à pain.
