Let me start this review by pointing out that I may never be able to use entry-level cutlery again after having received this knife. As soon as I removed the knife from it's packaging, I knew I was going to enjoy using it. The first thing I noticed was the weight; weight that will literally do almost all the work for you as you use the knife. This is by far the heaviest chef's knife I've owned and it does wonders for cutting and chopping. The fact that it's razor-sharp from the box doesn't hurt it's cutting ability either. The handle (although not REAL hardwood), feels nice, dense, and heavy, and looks beautiful. The entire piece is almost perfectly balanced right at the point where the bolster transitions into the spine of the blade. It feels incredible to hold; it feels incredible to use. I bought this because I wanted a quality 6" chef's knife (I prefer the shorter blade), but now I'm going to have to replace my whole block with these. That will be a while (I don't have $1000 lying around), but this knife was worth every penny, and I'm confident the set will be too. Buy this knife.
