This is a great set. A bargain price for a good starter set of Sabatier knives. It's the lower end of their line but these are of much higher quality than similarly-priced sets. The knives come with a very sharp edge, and cut like a dream. Very little pressure is needed when cutting, and the soft handles are very pleasant. The steel is a bit thin, so care should be taken when pressing garlic with the flat end. That said, they feel substantial and with care, should last many years. The knife block itself has a very sharp (ha ha) design and looks good on the counter. I'd suggest purchasing the Sabatier Classic Ergonomic Knife Sharpener to keep these well-crafted knives in good condition.I also suggest hand-washing. I haven't tried putting these in the dishwasher but have always believed in caring for good knives by hand, so I would suggest washing with a non-abrasive scrubber and soapy water.
